Ida Esther Fischer
February 11, 1914 - December 08, 2019 - Age 105

Ida Esther Fischer, beloved wife of the late Jack Fischer, passed to her eternal home on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at the glorious age of 105 years and 10 months. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Archie (Madeline) Fischer of Medicine Hat, Audrey (Pat) Stenbeck of Pincher Creek, Stan (Heather) Fischer of Medicine Hat and daughter-in-law Noreen Fischer of Olds; ten grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; sister-in-law Mary Fischer and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Lydia and Simon Heather; her husband Jack on January 2, 1969; two sons Ivan “Sonny” in 1937 at the age of four, and Elroy in 2011; one granddaughter, one great grandson and six brothers. Ida was born on February 11, 1914 in Irvine, Alberta. She married Jack Fischer on March 18, 1933 in Medicine Hat. They farmed in the Hilda area until Jack’s passing in 1969. While she raised her family she helped on the farm and also drove school bus which was a highlight. In 1967, when Jack became ill they left Hilda and came to Medicine Hat. She grew a very large garden canning many jars for her family. She also enjoyed doing ceramics and crocheting. Her home was always the gathering place for family and friends to stop by for a meal of her delicious strudles and Kucha. She remained in her home until age 92 moving to the Wellington for 10 years before requiring more care and moving to the Good Samaritans. The family wishes to thank the Good Samaritans Society and the Wellington for care provided to our mother. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob McGougan officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in Hillside Cemetery.
