In memory of
Eleanor 'Ella' Ann Gagnon
February 07, 1945 - October 15, 2019 - Age 74

After a brief battle with cancer, with her family by her side, Eleanor “Ella” Ann Gagnon, beloved wife of the late Paul Gagnon, passed away October 15, 2019 in Medicine Hat at the age of 74. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Darby (Laurie) Gagnon and Carmen Gagnon, grandchildren, Tyler Gagnon and Teneal Gagnon, and her grand-dog Sadie; as well as many cousins and friends. She was predeceased by parents, Joseph and Anna Heschl, her husband Paul on November 12, 1999, and her baby brother Darby Joseph Heschl. Ella was born February 7, 1945 in Leader, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm near the Richmond, Fox Valley area. The family would spend their winters in Medicine Hat while her parents worked at Medalta Potteries and then return to the farm in the spring. It was the spring of 1964 when Ella met the love of her life, Paul Gagnon. They were married October 10, 1964 in Medicine Hat where together they raised their children, Darby and Carmen. Ella dedicated her life to her family, a devoted baker and cook, and kept the books for Paul’s Welding. Her homemade bread and buns were the highlight of the many treats she shared with her family and friends. Ella had a heart of gold, she loved spending time with her family dogs and enjoyed bowling league with Paul. Ella and Paul were long-time members of the Moose Lodge, enjoying dinners, dancing and socializing with friends. She loved to watch curling, game shows and was an avid Blue Jays fan. Ella was also a number one fan of her grandchildren’s sports and activities and enjoyed spending quality time with family. Ella had many special people in her life, her long-time friend of 60 years, Jeanette (Bill) Martin, cousin Walter (Shellie) Schneidereit, her coffee group and her many friends and relatives. She will be deeply missed and has impacted our lives and touched our hearts forever - our Mom, our Granny, our Friend! At Ella’s request, a private family service will be held at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the St. Joseph’s Home (Carmel Hospice) or the S.P.C.A.
