In memory of
Lucia Maria Pimentel
October 10, 1933 - August 27, 2019 - Age 85

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lucia Maria Pimentel, beloved wife for 61 years of Gualberto Pimentel, on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the age of 85 years. She also leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Paula (John) Gillmore, Maria Grimm, Debbie (Rob) Côté and Louise Pimentel; six grandchildren, Megan, Emily (James), Stephanie (Kevin), Morgan (Kelsey), Mitchell, Kallan and Abbey; one brother, Tony (Odette) Melo and family; two sisters, Osvalda Ferreira and family, Rafaela (Tony) Pacheco and family; special friend Virginia Cabral and family as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family in Portugal. She was predeceased by her parents, Tereza and José de Melo; one son-in-law Robert Lapinskie; one brother-in-law José Ferreira and special friend Orlando Cabral. Lucia was born on October 10, 1933 in the village of Ribeira Grande, Azores, Portugal. She met Gualberto in school and they soon fell in love and became inseparable. They started their new life in Canada shortly after leaving behind those they loved but looking forward to exciting opportunities with their relatives in Canada. Over the next several years, they raised four daughters whom meant the world to them. Later in life, once her grandchildren came along, she delighted in being involved in their lives and they loved her dearly. Lucia loved to cook and it gave her great pleasure to share that with her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and took pride in watching the garden flourish. Lucia’s love for God was the foundation on how she lived her life. She was a devoted and faithful Catholic. Despite the challenges she had with Alzheimers, she never lost her ability to be loving and affectionate and always had a joyful sense of humor. Our “querida” Lucia will forever be in our hearts. Special thanks to Sunnyview staff for their great care and kindness they showed Lucia during her time there. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. - 10:55 a.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Vijaya Bathineni celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery . Dear Gualberto and Family,
Lucia, my sweet younger sister meant so much to me and my family. I have so many cherished memories of us as young girls growing up in Portugal. And then in Canada where we enjoyed Sharing Joy and laughter with our families through the years. She was my dearest friend, and I will miss her very much every day. My thoughts and prayers are with her and you Gualberto and my sweet nieces, Paula, Maria, Debbie, and Louise and familiy. We know she is with the Lord at rest and at eternal peace with our loved ones that have passed on before us, watch over us until we meet again sweet sister.

We are here for you with our thoughts and prayers Tio Gualberto and dear cousins Paula, Maria, Debbie, Louise and Family. We have many cherished memories of Tia Lucia and will miss her very much. Growing up as children and later in our life as adults our visits with her and Tio Gualberto are and always will be very special. She had a great smile and wonderful sense of humor and generous hospitality. Saying goodbye is very difficult but remembering her in our shared stories and the feeling of her love and sweet kisses still strong in our heart, reassures us that her love will never part from us, it lives with us forever. Rest sweet Tia we love you always.

Love you,
