WILSON: It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of Donna Marie (Johnson) Wilson on Friday, May 7, 2021. Donna leaves to mourn her beloved husband and best friend for 40 years, Oscar Wilson; her son, Vincent Thane (Esther); grandchildren, Olivia and Mattias Thane; her siblings, Patricia (Barry) Maxwell, Laura (Eric) Curwen, Catherine (Randy) Schnell, Gordon Johnson and Barbara (Clayton) Davison; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Vernon and Adele Johnson and Vincent’s father, Ian Thane. Donna was an amazing cook and baker with a keen eye to detail and presentation. She had many artistic abilities, pottery, painting, calligraphy, embroidery, leatherwork, beading and a love of making jewellery be it wrapped gems, loom beaded bracelets and many different beautiful earrings. Donna was a genealogist and proud to be a Métis. She loved to share family stories and discover new connections to her family tree. Donna also taught beading, embroidery and loom beading at the Miywasin Friendship Centre where every Friday she made a delicious cake or some other wonderful dessert for the elders lunch. Donna will be forever loved and remembered for her kindness, beautiful smile and light filled eyes. As her daughter-in-law said, “Donna is now Dancing with her Ancestors.” This thought, makes our hearts smile.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Those who wish to remember Donna may make a donation to Saint Joseph’s Home or a charity of their choice. To email an expression of sympathy, please direct it to: office@pattisonfuneralhome.com subject heading: Donna Wilson.

I was so extremely saddened to open the paper and read of my dear friend and ‘cousin’ Donna’s passing. She will be missed so very, very much by all who ever knew her. She had phoned me a while back just before she had to go back into hospital and we were making plans to outdoor visit ASAP, when restrictions were lifted a bit & weather warmed. Donna will always remain in my heart and mind till I join her in our ‘hereafter’. My sincere love and condolences to all her family! I loved you too Donna!

Message from Kiarra and Ember Leggo May 15, 2021
Well I may not have known much of Donna's family. I really do wish my condolences to her family (knowing only Pat and Barbara). I remember the first time I met Donna and her sisters at the Miywasin Friendship Center as a part of the youth program. Donna was one of the most accepting Elders of me and taught me so much about my culture as well as some things about baking. When I heard of her passing, I felt so sad and just knew that she is in a better place. My fondest memory with Donna would have been the pride on her face when I walked into Elder's lounge in my Grad Dress to get some photos at the center. She also treated my daughter like she was Donna's own granddaughter. Donna had a big heart that will forever have a lasting impact on me and some of the youth she taught. I want to send lots of love to her family on behalf of the Leggo family and the soon to be the Leggo-Greggains family. You will be forever missed Donna.
