Irene was predeceased by her parents Peter and Rose Ibach; Joe’s parents, Frank and Susanna Lutz, Joe's stepmother Edna Lutz; two brothers, Tony and Henry Ibach; one brother-in-law Joseph Lesmeister; sisters-in-law Katherine Ibach and Anna Marie Koenig. Irene was born on November 8, 1931 on the family farm north of Fox Valley, Saskatchewan. She moved to Medicine Hat in 1948, and worked at Hycroft China, Medalta Potteries and Redcliff Glass Factory. She met Joseph Lutz and they were married in 1951. In the spring of 1952, they moved to the family homestead near Liebenthal where they farmed until 1989, retiring to Medicine Hat at that time. Irene loved to garden, do crafts and crocheted many projects over the years. If your name was in her birthday book you could always expect a call from her on your special day. Irene loved to play cards and would never pass up a chance to do so. Irene was a lifetime C.W.L. member. We would like to thank the staff from Homecare and Masterpiece for the excellent care given to Mom over the years. Message from Kathryn Schafer January 20, 2021
Joe, Ken, Myra, Allan and families,
My heart goes out to each of you on the loss of Irene. We shared a wonderful friendship...phoning each other on birthdays and anniversaries, playing cards and visiting. When Ed passed away, things changed, but our friendship didn't. Things will change for you too, but your memories will bring you peace, your friends will bring you comfort, and your faith will bring you hope of everlasting life.
With deepest sympathy,
Kathryn Schafer, Lionel and Valerie Folk

Just watched the mass. Fr. mentioned her support of others. For so many years, Joe and Irene were there with their support for others at so many funerals. Such a shame that covid restrictions kept so many friends away today. Know that you are wished comfort and strength.
