In memory of
Cornelio Wiebe Koethler
June 21, 1961 - February 24, 2018 - Age 56

Cornelio Koethler passed away peacefully, with his wife and daughter by his side, on Saturday February 24, 2018 at 6:45 p.m., at the age of 56 years, beloved husband of Margaretha Koethler from Burdett. He also leaves to cherish his memory eight children, Margaretha (Jacob) Knelsen, Katharina (Johan) Klassen, Cornelius (Katharina) Koethler, Susana Koethler, Abraham (Tina) Koethler, Elizabeth (Johan) Giesbrecht, Wili (Susan) Koethler, Isaak Koethler; thirteen grandchildren; his father Jacob Koethler of Mexico along with 13 siblings. Predeceased by his mother Catalina Koethler, his son Peter Koethler and one grandchild.

Cornelio’s lifelong vision was to own a family farm, to work along side his children and watch his grandchildren grow up. This he was unable to live out and experience, yet he found great joy and contentment with his family. However his most meaningful desire was to see his family come to know the Lord and to one day be in Heaven with each one. Through many trials the Lord called him to Himself and he came to realize that through our own righteousness it is impossible to know the Lord or to earn salvation. It wasn’t until the year of 2016 that he finally discovered that salvation was only through Jesus Christ and what He had done for him on the cross.

After his rediagnosis of Renal Cell Cancer in October of 2017 it was only a matter of months until it consumed his whole body, and sadly his life. Yet because of his peace with God we greatly rejoice knowing that “God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

Revelation 21:4 KJV

Cornelio’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Bow Island Homecare for the care and compassion shown to them.

Message from Bill & Anne Wiebe February 27, 2018

Dear Margaret and family,
We just found and read the obituary for Cornelio. 56 seems much too young for him to have left his family. We pray that our Lord Jesus would comfort you and give you His peace.
It was so good to spend some time with you in August. It was good to see the joy on your faces and feel the peace you have in your hearts. May He continue to hold you up through this time of grieving.
Our love and prayers are with you.
Bill & Anne Wiebe
